My Perfect Bloody Mary

It's no secret that my favorite cocktail is the Bloody Mary.  Here's how I like to drink it.

Main Ingredients
1 1/2 oz Vodka (you're favorite kind)
8oz Bloody Mary Mix (Zing Zang, or Mr. & Mrs. T)
Ice

Garnishes (optional)
Pepperoni slices
Sliced Peppers (green or red...whatever you have on hand)
Celery
Stuffed Green Olives
Celery Salt
Dill Pickle
Lemon Wedges
Lime Wedges

Fill glass with ice.  Mix Vodka and Bloody Mary Mix.  Add a dash of celery salt.  Garnish with any or all of the optional ingredients listed.  Enjoy!!

When I make a bloody mary, it's like an appetizer...I put all sorts of garnishes in it.  I never heard of using dill pickles, but apparently some people do.  I will definitely have to try that since I love dill pickles.  Taste of Home had a post on their Facebook page about blood marys.

Note: Substitute tequila for vodka to make a Bloody Maria.

Menu Plan 12/30/12 - 1/5/13

_____
Sunday
Monday - New Year's Eve
orange chicken, party tray (won tons, spring rolls, potstickers), parmesan pastry pups, seafood croquettes, and a bloody mary or two (I'm trying a new bloody mary mix called Zing Zang.  I usually use Mr. & Mrs. T's but they only had the big bottle and since I'm the only one that drinks bloody marys and didn't want to buy a big bottle, I decided to try Zing Zang.

We're pretty much having a smorgasbord for dinner tomorrow.  Traditionally we order chinese food on New Year's Eve, but we have found that since many people in our area have the same tradition, there is a long wait for take out and the food doesn't taste as fresh. We'll be noshing on our appetizer meal while watching one of our favorite holiday movies; Scrooged.

_____
Tuesday - New Year's Day
spiral ham, hasselback potatoes, mixed veggies, black eyed peas, dinner rolls

For New Year's Day we are inviting the in-laws over for a nice dinner.  I made the hasselback potatoes before and they were very yummy.  I had heard that black eyed peas are a Lucky New Year Food, so I made them part of the menu.  I've never had them before so hopefully I'll like them.  We'll also be making our favorite Rhodes Rolls.

I'm going to make this recipe to use up the leftover ham from our new year's day dinner.
